At least 39 people have been killed after a coach plunged into a ravine near the southern Italian town of Avellino.

The tour bus filled with Italians came off the highway near Naples after smashing into several cars that were slowing down due to heavy traffic.

Highway police said the bus driver appeared to have lost control of the coach after flashing signs near Avellino had warned of slow traffic along a stretch of the A116 autostrada.

In its plunge, the bus tore away whole sections of concrete barriers as well as guardrail. The concrete lay in large chunks in a clearing in a wooded area where the bus landed.

Local reporter Giuseppe Crimaldi told Sky TG24 TV some witnesses had told him the bus had been travelling at a ‘normal’ speed on the downhill stretch of the highway when it suddenly veered and started hitting cars.

He said some witnesses thought they heard a noise as if the bus had blown a tyre.

There are conflicting reports as to where the bus may have been travelling back from. Some suggest the passengers had spent the day in Puglia, an area near the Adriatic on the east coast famed for religious shrines, while others claim they had been on an outing to a thermal spa area near Benevento, and some said they may have the home of Padre Pio, a late mystic monk highly popular among Catholics in Italy.

Would look great in the basket too.Sorry for answering twice, but I was once a floral designer and gift baskets were often created for clients. Also some great picture books on Italy showing history and such would be a nice display too.Fake grapes with vine would also look great around the handle. Okay, I'll stop now.

The train was just one leg on an enthralling trip touring the Golden Triangle, India's most popular northern cities of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. I confess I have had a long, bordering on obsessive attraction to the Rajasthan region.

Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour Italy?

Can anyone who has used it help me, i have been looking for answers for this question online for a while.

I am going to purchase a ticket for the hop on hop off bus. The first stop is on the opposite side of town from where my hotel is, but one of the stops on the tour is at the train station right outside my hotel. So my question is can i just get on at that stop or do i have to get on at the very first stop?

Good question! I had the same problem / question in the past since I finally try one of thoose Hop On Hop Off Busses during one of my travel abroad.

As stated here:

ticket offers a perfectly planned route of Rome's major sites coupled with the absolute freedom to alight and re-board the bus or boat as you wish."

I confirm that you can Hop-on and Hop-off in every "bus stop" (and in this case also boat on the Tiber River) along the line.

Here the stops:
1. TERMINI - Largo di Villa Peretti
